Dads on Duty: team of fathers patrol school after violence lead to 20+ students arrested

A terrible week at a high school lead to 23 students getting arrested in just three days, mostly linked to various fights or other violent incidents.

The school and students seemed hopeless, but that’s when a group of fathers got together to put an end to the violence at Southwood High School in Louisiana – and guess what! The students say it’s working!

The group of fathers is being called “Dads on Duty” and there’s about 40 of them. They take turns hanging out at the school, talking with students, and being part of a positive experience that many of the students were lacking – all in hopes to lower the amounts of fights and keep the school peaceful.

In fact, CBS News reports there hasn’t been a fight since the dads showed up! CBS got some information from Michael LaFitte, the creator of Dads on Duty. He said, “We’re dads. We decided the best people who can take care of our kids are who? Are us!”

The dads are helping by giving a strong mix of funny dad jokes, strong looks in the eye, and keeping everyone in good vibes.
